$35.00 for One Meal?

February 27, 2007 / by MentalHealthRN

My youngest son's wedding is four months away. He came home this this weekend to pick up Bruce #1~ while he was here we decided on a restaurant for the rehearsal supper. I went by and meet the owner of the restaurant  and luckily the Friday night before the wedding was open so I booked it.

Later the restaurant manager  called and said he would fax a menu to me.  I don't know why he bothered, basically it is will be $35.00 a person.  Let's see, with 9 bridesmaids and 9 groomsmen, parents, etc.~~ um-mm, I count 40 ish people.

 WHAT??????

I am going along with the wedding theme and will use black and white decorations. ( a black table topper over each table).  I am looking on line for different ideas for the middle of the table. Something I can make MYSELF and add a flower or two at the last minute.

Gees Louise, I figured up... I need to save $35.00 a day for the next 40 days. So.... today I did not go by the plant store or any other my of daily haunts where I usually stop when I am running to let Miz and Slayer in and out.

Which left me at home most of the day.  I have decided I will do yard work in the morning and house stuff, closets, etc. in the afternoon.  The girls at the office have all been sick so between the three of them I think they are now immune to every virus and I don't have to go up there except to do payroll.

If anyone has any ideas for 5 tables  that seat 8 people , let me know.  I just refuse to spend $$ on something I know I can make myself that will look just as good.

I like the black and white idea, remind me of Art Deco style.
Tell them to run away and elope. Why are you footing all the bill, how about the Bride.are they doing anythng. The bride pays it all, unless you they had a different opionion on this.
This is getting way out of hand.

Picnic tables in your backyard and great big stacks of Twinkies and Oreos. Then give the newlyweds the cash it would have cost otherwise.

Hmm, black lace? ferns? paper napkins? and Queen Anne's lace? Carnations? Calla Lillies? Doilies? Hmm, how about great big cabbage rose sized flowers from newspaper... that'd be black and white, wouldn't it? Oh, what about a toy dalmation in the middle of each table? Or stuffed tuxedo cats. Sorry, getting carried away, must be time for me to take my happy pills and go to bed...
Sounds like a great color scheme. Might be fun to come up with some stuff! [SMILE]

I am not gifted in the art of decoration. I can only think about wide, shallow glass bowls, where you could get two large bags of stones...one white, one black. Add some stones to each, 1/2 and1/2 add some water and add black and white floaty flower candles. Probably not wedding worthy, but sound pretty to me.[SMILE]

many moons ago when my eldest daughter was 12 years old now 45 an insurance salesman sold me a policy for daughters wedding expenses ( 3 daughters in all) at the time thought it a bit funny doing it that early but was cheap enough so i kept the payments up.She was married at 25 got more than enough to pay expenses so kept paying till all were married boy am i glad i did. Catering back then was about $15 a head plus the drinks of course. [HEART][KISS]

The costs of everything to do with weddings is incredible! I guess that is one thing about not being able to get married. We don't have to worry about financing it.

Alert the News-- Cindy won't be at the mall for a month. For $35.00 a head they better be planning on lobster.

I think what luckystar said is really pretty...glass bowls with white or clear stones and black ones...maybe a tapered candles...one white and one black in the center....with a flower of some kind...really pretty
