The trumpet player is sitting on a bench, facing the River. He was so cool~ we were walking down the "boardwalk" looking at the paddle boats and I hear this sound in the background.... ah... the city![WINK]

That would be very cool...reminds me of a time I was at Gettysburg and a guy was playing the bagpipes. I love all the photos you take...makes me feel like I'm there...[THUMBUP]

Was alot of rebuilding needing done after Katrina or was much of it just repairs? I was never sure how wide spread the devastation was as our news reports only ever seemed to focus on one area.

the Mississippi Gulf Coast was destroyed, It hit at a Cat 5!!. Katrina was a cat 1 when it hit New Orleans, the area where the levees broke did indeed destroy that area. The tourist areas had no damage, but the city services, ( electric, garbage pickup etc) are still slow, lacking in people. 30,000 guatamalan ( sp) workers are there... illegally I might add, but they are at least calm, hard working and not into drugs and gangs. Will blog more later.

BTW, a new Texas A&M Corpus Christi law professor from a recent Old Miss teaching position is joining our Church, with his wife. They make a very interesting couple. I'm looking forward to your "take" and additional posts on New Orleans. [WINK]

I went to New Orleans back when I was 18 years old. My friends and I left college and rode down to Mardi Gras in a Volkswagon bug. I had the best time in the world! I still have fond memories of benoits and chickery coffee.[THUMBUP]
