..And They Call the Wind~ Mariah

February 24, 2007 / by MentalHealthRN

It isn't like I didn't know it was windy outside~ I just didn't know we were under a tornado watch.

(Flashbacks of Katrina)

I walked Bruce I and Bruce II on their leash for several blocks after supper, enjoying the wind in my face. After the first block I felt more like Micheal Jackson in his "Bad" video.

I will admit it was intimidating , but  magnificent at the same time. Out of the stillness I could hear a roar over my head and as I looked up I could see the wind moving through the trees with such an ominous force...  such a breathtaking experience.

No wondered they named the wind after a female.

" t

Now way out here they have a name for rain and wind and fire

The rain is Tess, the fire's Joe and they call the wind Maria

Maria blows the star around and sets the clouds a-flyin'

Maria makes the mountains sound like folks was out there dyin'

Maria, Maria

They call the wind Maria

Before I knew Maria's name and heard her wail and whinin'

I had a gal and she had me and the sun was always shinin'

But then one day I left my gal, I left her far behind me

And now I'm lost, so goldurned lost, not even God can find me

Maria, Maria

They call the wind Maria

Now here they have a name for rain, for wind and fire only

But when you're lost and all alone there ain't no name for lonely

Now I'm a lost and lonely man without a star to guide me

Maria blow my love to me, I need my gal beside me

Maria (Maria), Maria (Maria)

They call the wind Maria

Maria....Maria....Maria

They call the wind Maria

                  Good Night All

Never knew all the lyrics. That's a beautiful song. Love bad weather if it isn't being destructive. Love to hear the wind whistle around the house and watch big waves, so long as everyone is safe. I am going to start talking to the wind now, by name.

Lawdy, how that took me back a few years! I started singing it in my head long before I even read your post. We've been getting your "left over" wind here, too. Blew one of my chairs across the deck![OHMY][HEART]

I watched a TV program last week about the Kingston Trio. I almost had forgotten how many absolute classics they performed. They Call The Wind Mariah was in every concert they performed.
