Badger, Badger, Badger!!!!

May 10, 2006 / by MentalHealthRN

      Thank You

I went for my mammogram today,
I had told a few of the "girls" I
would do it after April 15th.

     I was 6 years behind~ I got a
good report today. No change. All
is well. How do I thank the friends
that badgered me into going? Snacks?

You guys are the best~ I can only
say a heart felt "Thank You!" <3

PS.  Why do people say it hurts? It
didn't hurt in the least bit, on a
      scale of 1- 10 I give it a -2-.

Still waiting on the results of my second one. They said there was abnormalities in the first and had me come in for a second set. Same as last year so I'm not concerned. Glad yours were good.[THUMBUP]

Badgers, while generally considered ugly little animals to those of us who did not go to the University of Wisconsin, do have their uses! [SMILE]They are very fierce and tenacious as witnessed by Cindy's getting the testing done! YEAH!!! [HEART][HEART] I'm glad you got a clean report! [THUMBUP][THUMBUP]

Wendy, I had put it off, my family was so worried. My Mom had breast cancer 15 years ago. I don't smoke or drink, I did breast feed and thought my risk was low. They had to repeat the test THREE times today. The machine was too GREY... being a nurse, I immed. thought the worse. Finally a tech came in and recalabrated the machine. All is fine..Thank you JESUS!!![HEART]
  • wendysuz said 2 years ago
How frightening!! I would have been bonkers, even not being a nurse!! [OHMY] Isn't it funny how we put off things we dread, even when we know we'll be better off afterward? I am really glad you went and put everyone's mind at ease.[HEART][HEART][HEART]

You know what is crazy... I would have anxiety about it for years, then one day last week, I called the office and told them to schedule it. I was ready. I woke up and was ready to do it. How much sense does that make?[HUH][ROLLEYES][HEART]

I know.. I did it to myself, either way, I was willing to suffer the actions, thank God I didn't have a bad outcome. I'm lucky![THUMBUP]

I am thinking of all kinds of sexist things to say, but will remain silent. Breast cancer is far to serious for me to make light of it, even if it might be funny.

I think it is in the technique of the person doing it... mine was painless...
  • ChihulahuaLover said 2 years ago
Well, they need a little of that technique here Cindy. I hear your wife Joe. So true. I have NEVER had one that was pain free.[OHMY][ROLLEYES]
  • hopefields said 2 years ago
hehe I've never heard of a painless mammogram. But then, I've never heard of a 'happy period,' like they are advertsiing now, either. hehe
  • elkhound said 2 years ago
well it doesn't hurt as much as it is severely uncomfortable. I think the bigger the breast the more uncomfortable! [LOL]

Thank you for going and getting the mamogram done. We lost my wifes mother to breast cancer some years back. She never got to see her daughter as a bride and we miss her every day. It's never something to be put off.[HEART]

happy to hear your mammo came out allright. ][THUMBUP]][THUMBUP] never had one but it couldn't possibly hurt more than a root canal, i reckon. and i've had three of those.

  • MentalHealthRN said 2 years ago
always a happy day... when you get a clean bill of health.[THUMBUP]
  • bamick said 2 years ago
[THUMBUP] It's good all is well. I did it once last year as breast cancer runs in my mom's side. Tolerance to pain varies in people, so it's good that you we're fine with it. But even if it is painful, we still have to go through it just to make sure we're clear and don't get the most painful consequences. [HEART]
  • MentalHealthRN said 2 years ago
thanks... of course it varies, and my anxiety was much worse than the pain.[OHMY][HEART]
  • bamick said 2 years ago
in such situations, i guess it's always better to hope for the best but expect the worse [SMILE][HEART]
  • LovelyLinda said 2 years ago
