"Cross"- by James Patterson - a Book Review

December 2, 2006 / by MentalHealthRN

After another good 6 hours of  sleep, I woke this morning around 5:00 AM and decided to finish my new James Patterson book ~ "Cross"

You may remember my neighbor up the road, Morgan Freeman, played Alex Cross in the movie "Kiss the Girls."  Ever since I saw that movie, when I read about the character, "Alex Cross" I see good ole Morgan Freeman~ I can't think of any movie that he has ever been in that I haven't enjoyed.

At the present time, Mr. Freeman is living in the Delta, running his blues club, "Ground Zero Blues Cafe"  with this wife, riding horses and recently  has started his own independant film company.  These  low budget, short films will be included in the "Sundance Film Festival" and other similar  venues.

                                   Clarksdale, Mississippi

This week Mr. Freeman was quoted as saying, " in my town we don't have one movie house, so for a movie like the one I just made, well, it's very unlikely it will be shown around these parts."

It is not unusual to go to a large social gather, " Hearts for Aids" or any other local fund raiser and see Mr. Freeman there.  He is just hometown , good people.

As far as rating this book~ I give this book a 7  on a scale of 1 - 10~~as opposed to Mr. Patterson's other books that are usually a 9 or 10 for me.

Nice, simple, fast read. Just my humble opinion.

Patterson is definitely a nice, breezy read. I am just starting the Alex Cross series after the girls at work have been trying to get me to do it for years. I have read the books about the Angel kids (both the adult and teen books) and the one that takes place in the Middle Ages.

I, too, have always enjoyed Morgan Freeman's quiet grace, characterized in the roles of various movies. I first saw "Along Came a Spider" in Debrecen, Hungary with subtitles. It was so good at that point because I had been away from my culture for a long time and needed to feel a little of home and Morgan Freeman has a way of making it feel like home.
