Never Judge a Book ... .

We haven't had a new car or truck in over ten years.  My car was a new used car and that was over 5 years ago.

The old ford is on it's last leg.  The only thing that works is the air conditioner.  We went to the dealership last night after a long hour at the barn of cleaning horse poop,  and I couldn't find a salesman to wait on us.  I went inside and found a sales person ( female) and asked if we could test drive a truck. They were about to close for the day.

I finally said, " we know what we want, we have our own financing from the bank and there is no trade in. It is a sale. We want the black one. Can we drive it?"  Quickly she scurried off to get the keys and we decided to buy the truck.

Never just a book by it's cover, huh?

the first time i bought a brand new car, i wanted a 5 speed. the dealership didn't have the car in 5 speed. so here somes the general manager. "may i ask why you want a 5 speed?" I asked him, "If I was a man would you ask me that?" I told him I could just take my business elsewhere. Lo and behold they found me one in the color I wanted in NJ, had it the next day.

Very nice! I don't suppose you'd care to swap it for an 18 year old Toyota Camry wagon?[ROLLEYES]

Yep. Like my MIL..."How much is that car? Do you take cash?". Many sales are lost because people don't "look" like they can afford it. Live and learn.[WINK]

What I used to do is walk in and shoot 'em a lowball price. When they laugh and say "No" I say "Cash." As they squirm and hem 'n haw, I walk out and leave.[LOL]
